RTD in early 2011
February 10, 2011

Woah, it's the year 2011 -- and February already?!

My how time flies. In RTD land, we've been spending time staying warm, recording a demo of our next record, and booking some fun shows so we can see you all again! First, the bad news ... our label, Window Licker Records dissolved as a business last month. Now now, we'll be ok, but we'll definitely miss having the support of the label, and working with the Window Licker Records family of bands.

But on to the good news! We just finished putting together our demo of new songs and we're looking at hitting the studio in the next couple of months to release a new EP in late Spring. In the more immediate future, we've got some shows lined up with some great bands. First off is this Saturday at the RME performance hall in Davenport, IA. We'll be playing with As You Were and The Agrestix, both of which are releasing CDs that night. So if you're anywhere near the Quad Cities, get on over to the RME performance hall *this* Saturday, Feb 12 to get your punk-rock on!

You may have noticed we don't send out many band e-mails. To keep up with us, please follow us on Facebook and/or Twitter, because all of the most current updates are made there. If you're already following us on Facebook or Twitter, please throw us a shout out and suggest us to your friends, or "Follow Friday" (#FF) us!

As always, check out our latest upcoming show schedule here:

We'll be adding several more over the coming weeks, so stay tuned. Also, to find us on Facebook or Twitter, visit these links!

Division and Distance: The Big Takeover CD Review
December 8, 2010

Division and Distance: The Big Takeover CD Review

"Having liked these Chicago guys' debut Through This Night last year, the trio is now a duo, with star guitarist/singer Neill Miller handling studio bass ... I'm curious what it sounds like now when the pair play live with taped backing tracks of bass and keyboards, but studio-wise, RtD are even better! Unlike punk acts whose look and sound is tailored for Warp tours, Miller still rocks a supercool afro in the Oscar Gamble-era style, and there's nil sign of punk uniform in drummer Nicolas Lama. Likewise, the multiracial band bust a unique rock 'n' roll punk attack with Miller's also bad-ass, advanced, Greg Sage-like, speakers-filling riffing dominating another command performance. His songs, such as the riotous Wipers-esque standouts "Disconnected," "So Long," and "Perfect Blues," his committed vocals, and the pair's focused, hard ‘n' heavy playing makes Division another hot half hour—by two men smart enough to avoid the usual pitfalls. RTD Update: CD release show and more!
July 19, 2010

It's been a long time since Ready the Destroyer has sent out a mailing for various reasons, but primarily, this list has out-grown our old mail system over the past year and we're just now getting around to updating it so that we can keep you in the loop. As you probably know by now, we update our twitter/facebook/myspace/youtube pages much more frequently, so follow us there for all the latest (links below). Also, we've recently revamped our website so be sure to check it out at:

But down to business already. Join us in Chicago this Thursday, July 22 at the Darkroom (located at 2210 W. Chicago Ave) for our CD release show! A CD copy of our latest EP titled 'Division and Distance' will be available, and for those that aren't able to make it, look us up on iTunes, the Window Licker Records store, or your favorite online music retailer. Ready the Destroyer needs your help!

Out of the many bands that applied, we've been selected as 1 of 4 bands to play at the Q101 Jamboree Showcase show on May 1 at the Cubby Bear Lincolnshire (located at 21661 N Milwaukee Ave, Lincolnshire, IL 60669)! This is a free show, 21 and over, and the winner of this show will have the opportunity to play at the Q101 Jamboree event this summer. At the least, that means sharing the stage with other great bands like Ok Go, AMTaxi, and more!

So if you're near the Chicago area on May 1, come out and support us to help the panel of judges have an easier decision to make :-)

Aside from that, we also have the following upcoming shows in May:

Saturday, May 8: Otto's Niteclub (Dekalb, IL)

Ready the Destroyer v2010!
March 5, 2010

It's been a long time since we've sent mail out, and needless to say we've been very busy over the past couple of months. This past Winter, Nic and I have been focused on self-recording our forthcoming EP (to be titled 'Division and Distance') and making sure all of the many loose ends are tied up in that process. While we're still in the mixing stages, we expect the release to be out in late April/early May!

Aside from that, we've spent the unbearably cold Chicago Winter writing new material, working with potential new RTD members, and finding other creative ways to improve and stay in touch with you, our *awesome* friends. Toward that goal, we invite you to get to know us a little better by checking out the new Ready the Destroyer YouTube Channel!

If you're not already following us on Twitter, now's the time to add us because we will announce video and show updates there most frequently.

Finally, we're also proud to announce that we've added 2 new shows this month!

Friday, March 19: The Brass Rail in Peoria, IL

Saturday, March 20: The Empty Bottle in Chicago, IL with Punk Heroes, "The Bomb" (ex-Naked Raygun, etc)

Join us for these shows, and stay tuned, as our spring/summer shows start to take shape nearing our CD release.

Thank you so much and we'll see you soon!

RTD rocked Memorial Day weekend!
May 27, 2009

We just wrapped up a string of shows in the mid-west and it was a total blast!

We kicked things off last Thursday in Indianapolis with our 1st show at The Melody Inn. I hadn't been there in many years and thankfully not a thing had changed. With cigarettes blazing, beers flowing and amps cranking, this is the way a punk rock bar is supposed to be. Covered from ceiling to floor with band stickers of past and present, you can literally read the bar's history on it's walls. We played to a good crowd, met some great people and hopefully we'll be down there again this summer for a Saturday Punk Rock Night show. And of course, it was awesome to hang with Neill's old buddy and my new buddy Tom. Thanks for putting us up brotha!

Next stop was The Double OO Pub in Redford, Michigan but not before hitting the local bowling alley where Neill bowled a new RTD record of 161! ....Nic and I have some practicing to do.

The Double OO is a good ol' dive with a total DIY set-up. Right-on! Between Nic's drum riser swaying back and forth like a docked boat in a storm and a biker fight where an old drunk got knocked on his ass (don't feel bad, he started it), I was loving it! Thanks to Shana for setting up the show and Mike for running sound -- we hope to work with you again soon! Also, special thanks to Jared and Jay Miller for making the trip to see us and for letting us crash at your pad in Toledo (and for picking up a bag of gear that was left behind at the bar unnoticed until we reached our next destination ;-). Way cool!

Saturday was a good hike to Bloomington, IL. where we made our second appearance at Coconut Louie's with our good friends Nicotine Poetic. We rocked they rocked and all was good in the world until we discovered some unholy bastard had slashed not one, but TWO of the tires on our van Rustie. Well, instead of crying into our beers (in my case, Mountain Dew), we turned lemons into lemonade. With the help from our bros in Nicotine, we loaded our gear into their ultimate party bus and kept the good vibes rolling. Special thanks to Johnny Reed and his lovely fiance who were kind enough to let us crash, store our gear and get us back to our beloved war-torn Rustie. With minimal headache, we got her patched up as good as old and were back on the road.

Straight from Sears auto in Bloomington to Bottom Lounge in Chicago...no rest for the wicked! This was a show we had all been looking forward to. We got the opportunity to hear how some of our new songs sounded in a big room and to turn our hometown fans onto said new tunes. Also, we finally got a chance to play with our friends (and practice space roommates) The Assembly who played a top-notch pro set. Thanks for joining us fellas and we hope to do it again soon!

As always, we would like to raise a glass to everyone who came out to see us and we hope to see you again down the road. Thanks for your support!
